Making Sure the VCFSE Sector Has a Voice in the Future of Social Care..

With a national conversation underway about the future of adult social care, including the possibility of introducing a National Care Service alongside the NHS, there are important discussions about what this could mean for our communities and the organisations that support them.

Spring North recently attended The Future of Social Care – The Big Conversation at Blackburn Cathedral, joining representatives from health, social care, local government and the VCFSE sector to explore what the future of social care could look like across Pennine Lancashire.

It was particularly good to see Mohammed Sidat MBE, Chief Executive of our member organisation, IMO Charity, contributing to the discussion and sharing a South Asian perspective on social care. His contribution highlighted the importance of recognising the diverse experiences, needs and barriers faced by our communities.

Why does this matter to our sector?

Our members know better than anyone the challenges people face in their communities. Whether that’s helping someone access support, tackling isolation or building trust with people who may not engage with traditional services, the VCFSE sector has an important role to play.

As conversations about the future of social care continue, it’s essential that the knowledge, experiences and perspectives of our sector are recognised and heard.

For Spring North, being part of these discussions is about ensuring the VCFSE sector has a place at the table and that the experiences of our members and the people they support inform wider conversations.

We’re looking forward to continuing these discussions at Lancashire Listens next week, connecting with more organisations, listening to different perspectives and championing the role of our sector.

Because whatever the future of social care looks like, the VCFSE sector needs to be part of shaping it.
