The Early Intervention Safe Hubs project supports the emotional health and well-being of children and young people by providing safe, trusted spaces where they can access timely and tailored support. Delivered in partnership across local areas, the hubs offer a warm and welcoming environment where young people are given the time and space to talk, reflect, and build resilience.
Each hub works through a relationship-based model, ensuring that young people are listened to, understood, and supported before any formal assessment or intervention begins. This early connection is key to building trust and increasing engagement. From here, young people may access a range of personalised support options including one-to-one therapeutic sessions, creative group activities, or practical guidance focused on emotional regulation, confidence and life skills.
The project also includes a universal offer, ‘Empower & Connect’, which brings young people together in inclusive, positive environments to explore their identity, strengths and aspirations. Through these sessions, participants are encouraged to develop healthy coping strategies, emotional literacy and a sense of connection with others.
Referrals into the hubs are simple and flexible, with a single point of access available for schools, health partners, families or young people themselves. By working closely with local networks and drawing on the strengths of community partners, the project ensures that support doesn’t end at the door. Where appropriate, young people are connected to wider opportunities including mentoring, youth provision and positive activities, helping to build lasting change.
The Early Intervention Safe Hubs are designed to reduce emotional distress, prevent escalation of need and help young people feel safer, more confident and better equipped to navigate life’s challenges. Every element of the project is informed by the voice of young people and evaluated to ensure we continue to meet their needs in meaningful, responsive ways.
