Bereavement Support
At Spring North, we understand that loss affects everyone, but how individuals experience and express grief can vary across communities, cultures, and generations. Support is most effective when delivered by those familiar with their local area and the lives of the people who live there.
In Blackburn with Darwen, we are working closely with local partners to ensure that anyone who has experienced bereavement can access understanding and support nearby.
In collaboration with Age UK Blackburn with Darwen, Community CVS, One Voice Blackburn, Blackburn Youth Zone, Wish, and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, we are creating spaces that feel familiar, safe, and inclusive where people can gather, talk, and be heard.
Our sessions are facilitated by Re-Align Futures, a team of compassionate practitioners specialising in wellbeing, resilience, and recovery. They bring warmth, understanding, and practical tools to help people navigate grief, reconnect with daily life, and rebuild confidence at their own pace.
Together, we are helping to create a more compassionate Blackburn with Darwen a community where people can speak openly about loss, find comfort in shared experiences, and realise they do not have to face grief alone
DROP IN SESSIONS
Our drop-in sessions offer a gentle space for anyone affected by grief or loss. There’s no pressure to talk or share just come as you are. You may want to enjoy a cup of tea and chat with others who’ve experienced something similar, or simply sit quietly and take a moment for yourself. Sometimes, being in the company of people who understand can make things a little easier.
Our team is here to listen, show kindness, and help you find any local support that might be useful when you are ready. Whether your loss is recent or something you have carried for a while, you are welcome here. These sessions are about connection, comfort, and reminding each other that no one has to face grief alone.
“I used to think I had to handle everything on my own, but coming here helped me see that getting support is actually part of the process. Talking about how I felt or even just listening made it a bit easier to breathe again. It’s not about fixing the grief, but learning to live with it. Each week, I find small ways to cope, and I feel stronger knowing I’m not alone.”

FREE WORKSHOPS
Grief touches us all at some point in life, yet it can often feel deeply personal and isolating. To help people find comfort, strength, and understanding, we will be hosting a series of community workshops open to everyone, whether you have experienced loss yourself, are supporting someone through bereavement, or simply want to better understand grief.
These sessions provide a gentle and supportive space to talk, listen, and explore ways to cope with loss. Together, we will look at practical techniques for managing difficult emotions and rebuilding emotional resilience through small yet powerful steps that help you face each day and reconnect with the world around you.
Through mindfulness, creative reflection, shared stories, and simple wellbeing exercises, you will learn strategies to calm the mind, nurture self-care, and build confidence in your ability to cope and heal. You will also have the chance to connect with others who understand, finding comfort and strength in shared experience.
Led by experienced and compassionate facilitators from Re-Align Futures, each workshop is designed to meet you where you are; there’s no pressure to talk or share. You can simply come along, participate in your own way, and feel supported. Above all, these workshops are about hope, connection, and community, helping people find their footing again after loss, and reminding us all that we do not have to face grief alone.
