Commissioned by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Lancashire County Council, Spring North oversees the Get Stuck In programme, a borough-wide network of high-quality holiday clubs offering meaningful activities and nutritious food for children and young people from families claiming free school meals and those in other vulnerable groups.
We do more than just oversee the programme. Spring North collaborates with 15 trusted local delivery partners, including schools, youth organisations, and specialist SEND providers, to run safe, inclusive, and engaging sessions during Easter, Summer, and Winter holidays. Our partners bring local relationships and creativity, and we ensure everything is coordinated, compliant, and targeted where it is needed most.
Our role covers every aspect of programme management: planning and delivery based on local data, allocating funding, managing grants and contracts, and ensuring quality and safeguarding across all sessions. We coordinate a borough-wide steering group, provide tailored training to partners in inclusive and trauma-informed practice, and maintain a bespoke online booking system that handled over 17,000 bookings last year. We also run a dedicated helpline to support families with accessing places, codes, and advice.
In 2024, the programme reached more than 6,000 children and young people, providing 49,020 healthy meals and over 25,000 pieces of fruit. Beyond the figures, the programme offered children safe spaces to play, learn, and connect, while connecting families to practical support such as food banks, housing advice, and health guidance.
By combining strong project management with local delivery expertise, Get Stuck In delivers measurable impact, including improved wellbeing, increased social opportunities, reduced isolation, and better family outcomes, all while ensuring public funding maximises reach and value.
"It was really clear that you have developed a strong HAF programme at the centres that we visited in Blackburn with Darwen. I was really impressed by the variety of activities on offer, the passion of the staff and the overarching happiness of the children in attendance. It was also great to hear that provision was on offer for older children"
