C&FA Covid and Flu Awareness

Here you will find resources to support your efforts in promoting COVID and flu vaccinations in communities where awareness may be limited. Our goal is to equip Champions to deliver key messages about the importance of vaccination for pregnant individuals and within communities where the need for vaccination may be unknown.

We aim to create an informed community of voluntary organisations, community ambassadors, parents, and families who not only understand the significance of vaccination but are also better informed about its benefits. Additionally, they should be able to encourage vaccination among those who are hesitant or unaware, and facilitate timely access to vaccines when necessary.

As part of the Champions training, you will be provided with the tools to engage with service users, communities, partners, and agencies. Your role as a Community Champion will encompass the following key responsibilities:

  1. Consultation: Actively engage with community members to seek their input on planned interventions. This may include consulting Community Champions on innovative and effective ways to deliver crucial health messages regarding COVID and flu vaccinations to targeted communities.
  2. Participation: Work alongside and support broader and targeted communities to identify vaccination-related issues and implement solutions. Empower and support communities and structures to drive positive change in vaccination awareness and uptake.
  3. Community Empowerment: Collaborate with community members and grassroots organisations to identify vaccination challenges and develop locally-tailored solutions. This approach ensures that solutions are community-owned and feasible, leading to sustainable improvements in vaccination rates.

As part of the consultation, participation, and empowerment framework, you, as Champions, will have the ability to share insights on what strategies are effective, what doesn’t seem to work, and what can be done to enhance the delivery of vaccination projects and achieve better outcomes.

Your contribution as Community Champions will involve offering effective services within community-based settings. The main focus will be on information sharing, raising awareness, providing guidance, conducting one-on-one and group sessions, organising outreach initiatives, and emphasising early prevention activities. This approach is designed to ensure safe management and reduce late admissions for pregnant individuals and community members experiencing acute health conditions.

Your role as Vaccination Champions is crucial in promoting vaccination awareness and uptake among those who may not yet recognise its importance. By doing so, you are playing a vital part in safeguarding the health and well-being of your community.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to this important initiative. Together, we can make a significant impact on vaccination rates and public health in your communities.
