Empowerment Charity – CMHT
We are proud to support Empowerment, a charity with multiple health projects across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast, supported by an employed team of individuals with lived experience of multiple disadvantage
This initiative is designed with the specific objective of increasing vaccination uptake, particularly first-time vaccinations, among key at-risk groups across Lancashire and South Cumbria. These include individuals suffering from asthma, diabetes, respiratory viral infections (RVI), heart issues, and obesity.
Using 43 of our committed, existing champions, we aim to engage communities that have traditionally been less receptive to health messaging. Through the health champions model, they disseminate non-medical information and dispel common myths surrounding vaccinations. By partnering with trusted community organisations and delivering these services in familiar community settings, we aspire to equip these target groups with the essential knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their health. As well as support people shown to be most at risk from Covid-19 and Flu to follow safer behaviours and reduce the impact of the virus on themselves and the wider community.
